As Board Officer for Habesha Networks, Eden is responsible for overseeing the administration, programs and strategic planning of the organization. She coordinates Habesha Networks ongoing programs and projects to ensure these activities are aligned with the mission, resources and goals of the organization. Eden also assists with fundraising, marketing, and community outreach.
Eden is an Ethiopian, American born, social activist. She is the founder and chairman of the Emnet foundation, a NGO dedicated to eradicating child marriage in Ethiopia through educational initiatives, health initiatives and advocacy work. Her passion for underprivileged girls in Ethiopia began at the age of 16, when she visited the rural parts of Ethiopia and saw the devastating effects of early child marriages. Ever since then, Eden has traveled back and forth to Ethiopia to raise awareness and make a change in the practice of child marriages. Eden brings to Habesha Networks her leadership, planning and organizational skills. Eden’s educational background is in Sociology which she obtained from University of Maryland Baltimore. Eden currently resides in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
